Privacy Policy

This policy covers the dispatch.tools website and the Chrome extensions we publish. dispatch.tools is a product of Countrywide Express Inc, and "we" throughout this policy means that company. It describes what actually happens to information, rather than reserving rights we do not use.

The short version

• There are no user accounts on this site.
• This site uses Google Analytics, and only if you accept it. Nothing is loaded or sent to Google until you do, declining costs you nothing, and there is no advertising or remarketing.
• Our extensions do their work on your own computer. They do not send your orders, your customers or your invoices anywhere.
• Apart from the ordinary server logs described below, the only personal information we receive is what you choose to type into the contact form.

The website

Server logs

Our web server records each request it serves: the IP address it came from, the date and time, the page requested, the browser's user-agent string and the referring page. This is ordinary web server logging. We use it to keep the site running and to investigate abuse, and we do not use it to build a profile of you or share it with anyone.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are actually read. We use it to decide what to write and what to build. We do not use it to identify you, and we run no advertising, remarketing or ad-personalisation tags.

Nothing loads until you accept it. Google Analytics is not on this page until you say yes — the script is not fetched, and your browser does not contact Google at all. The first time you visit, a banner asks. If you decline — or ignore it — nothing is ever requested and nothing is stored. Only if you accept is Google Analytics loaded, and it then sets its cookies to recognise a returning browser and to group your visit into a single session.

What Google receives if you accept. The pages you view, the page that referred you, general device and browser information, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google processes this as our analytics provider and their own privacy policy applies to that step. We have not switched on sharing with other Google products, and we never upload anything to Google about who you are.

Changing your mind. Your answer is kept in your browser under dt-consent, not on our server, so it is remembered on that browser only. To withdraw or change it at any time: Change your choice. Clearing this site's data in your browser also erases it, and the banner will ask again.

The contact form

If you send us a message, you give us your name, your email address and whatever you write. The form is relayed by FormSubmit, a third-party form service, which passes the message on to our support mailbox. Your message therefore passes through FormSubmit's systems in transit, and their own privacy policy applies to that step. We keep the resulting email so we can answer you and follow up. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share it.

Our Chrome extensions

InvoiceLane

InvoiceLane builds an invoice from an order page in ProABD. Everything it does happens in your browser, on your computer.

What it reads. When you ask it for an invoice, it reads the order detail page you already have open — order number, vehicles, price, and the pickup and delivery details shown on that page. It uses them to fill in the invoice and nothing else.

What it stores, and where. Your company name, address, phone, email and accepted payment methods, together with your licence key if you have one, are kept in Chrome's synced storage. If you have Chrome Sync switched on, Chrome copies that to your other signed-in Chrome browsers through your Google account; that is between you and Google, and we never receive it. Your uploaded logo, the cached selector file and your licence status are stored only on the computer you are using.

The compatibility check. Each time you open an order page, InvoiceLane notes which parts of that page it was able to find, so it can tell you when ProABD has changed their layout and the tool needs a fix. Normally that note is just the names of the sections it looked for and the time it looked. When something is missing, it also records an outline of the page’s structure — the tag, id and class names that describe how the page is laid out, plus short button and column labels — because that outline is what we need in order to repair it. It never contains an order number, a customer, an address, a VIN or a price, and long numbers inside names are masked out. It is kept on your computer and is not sent anywhere. If it shows a problem, the extension shows you the exact text and offers to copy it or save it as a file so you can send it to us yourself. Nothing leaves your machine unless you choose to send it.

What it sends. One request, and only one: it downloads selectors.json from dispatch.tools when you install it, when Chrome starts, once a day after that, and whenever you press "Check now" in its settings. That file tells the extension where to find each field on the ProABD page, so we can fix it quickly when that page changes, and it carries the wording of the short note about custom work shown at the bottom of the extension's settings. The request is a plain download of a fixed file. It carries no information about you, your orders or your customers. As with any request to our site, our server logs it as described above.

What it never does. It has no account and no login. It sends no usage data, telemetry or analytics. It never asks for, reads or stores your ProABD password, or the password of any other site.

Licence keys

A licence key contains the name and email address of the person it was issued to, so that we can provide support and reissue it if needed. It is stored on your computer and checked there. Checking a licence involves no network request, and we are not told when or where a licence is used.

Keeping information secure

The site is served over HTTPS. Because our extensions keep your working data on your own machine rather than on a server of ours, the great majority of it is never exposed to us in the first place. For the information we do hold — your emails to us — we take reasonable care, though no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

These are tools for a trade, and they are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what happens to your information, we will say so on this page rather than quietly revising it.
